Gold and Silver Items List
Equipping items on your Pokémon gives them the ability to recover Health, heal status ailments, attack first, and more. It is important to choose your item carefully, and it is also a good idea to use six unique items. Many players use the Items Clause in their battles; to combat people using six Leftovers and the like. This list will outline all equippable items, their effects and where you can get them.
Recovery Items
-Berry: Recovers 10 HP.
-Berry Juice: Recovers 20 HP.
-Gold Berry: Recovers 30 HP.
Berries are found all over the place. And they are fairly useless, so don't beat yourself up looking for them. They activate when your Pokémon's Health falls below 50%. They are consumable, so they only last once.
-Leftovers: Recovers 1/16th HP every turn.
Possibly one of the most popular items around. Leftovers work at their best on high-HP Pokémon, such as Snorlax. Snorlax are, incidentally, the best place to go for them. All Snorlax captured in GS, and sent up from RBY, have Leftovers attached. You can also find some in the Celadon Restaurant, and other places.
-Mysteryberry: Recovers 5 PP to the first attack that uses all PP.
This is handy on Pokémon that only use one attack, like Death Starmies and Moltres. They can be found on trees, but they're harder to find than the others.
Status Healing Items
-PSNcureBerry: Heals Poison.
-PRZcureBerry: Heals Paralysis.
-Ice Berry: Heals Burn.
-Burnt Berry: Heals Freeze.
-Mint Berry: Heals Sleep.
-Bitter Berry: Heals Confusion.
-Miracleberry: Heals all ailments.
These items are consumable, but luckily, they grow on trees- literally. :) Except for the Miracleberry, which is only available through Mystery Gift. And it's extremely rare. It also only heals the first ailment your Pokémon is afflicted with.
10% Boost Items
-Pink Bow, Polkadot Bow: Boosts Normal attacks. These come equipped on Jigglypuff traded up from RBY, and Tuscany of Tuesday on Route 29.
-Charcoal: Boosts Fire attacks. You recieve one of these in Azalea Town after catching the Farfetch'd. You can also buy them.
-Mystic Water: Boosts Water attacks. Pick one up from the fisherman in the lake west of Cherrygrove.
-Magnet: Boosts Electric attacks. Sunny of Sunday has it on Route 37.
-Miracle Seed: Boosts Grass attacks. Get it after defeating Falkner.
-Nevermeltice: Boosts Ice attacks. Find it in the ice cave between Blackthorne and Mahogany.
-Black Belt: Boosts Fighting attacks. Wesley of Wednesday has it in the maze at Lake of Rage.
-Poison Barb: Boosts Poison attacks. Get it from Frieda of Friday on Route 32.
-Soft Sand: Boosts Ground attacks. Surf to the hidden beach on the way to Goldenrod.
-Sharp Beak: Boosts Flying attacks. Monica of Monday's got it on Route 40.
-Bent Spoon: Boosts Psychic attacks. These are only available from Kadabra traded from Yellow.
-Silver Powder: Boosts Bug attacks. These are only available from Butterfree traded from RBY.
-Hard Rock: Boosts Rock attacks. Arthur of Thursday will give it to you on Route 36.
-Spell Tag: Boosts Ghost attacks. Santos will appear in Blackthorne on Saturday with this.
-Dragon Fang: Boosts Dragon attacks. It's in the Dragon Cave.
-BlackGlasses: Boosts Dark attacks. It's in the Dark Cave, more towards the Blackthorn entrance.
-Metal Coat: Boosts Steel attacks. You get it on the SS Aqua, and they can be stolen from Magnemites (rare).
I'm sorry about the spoony locations for these. I can never keep 'em straight. ^_^;;; Each item boosts damage done by that kind of attack by 10%. It doesn't matter if the Pokémon already has STAB on them or not. The Metal Coat also allows Onix and Scyther to evolve into Steelix and Scizor when traded, but it will be consumed in the meantime.
Strength Boosting Items
-Light Ball: Doubles Pikachu's Special Attack rating. If it goes over 512, it will start again from zero.
Yellow Pikachu have the Light Ball. Pichu and Raichu cannot use it- if Raichu could, it'd be all over players' teams...
-Thick Club: Doubles Cubone and Marowak's Attack rating.
Thick Clubs can be found on wild Cubone and Marowak. They are very rare.
Incidentally, Marowak's *real* Attack rating has to pass 512 before it will reset. Stats 'roll over' to 0 and start again when they hit 1024. Generally, they top out at 999, but the Thick Club can boost it up farther. Unfortunately, boost it too far and it'll start again from zero. This is why most people stress having an Attack DV of 13 for your Marowak. A 13 DV means Marowak's Attack stat is 254. Doubling that with the Thick Club makes it 508, and doubling THAT with Swagger or Swords Dance will put it at 1016- not enough for the rollover.
-Berserk Gene: This item doubles any Pokémon's Attack rating, but makes it confused.
Note that on Game Boy, the confusion is permanent, but on Stadium 2, it WILL wear off- leaving the Attack boost. However, because this item is consumable, switching to heal the confusion will defeat the purpose. Also, Safeguard will not defend against it. If you plan on using this item in battle, it is best to give it to something with high Defences that can take a few rounds' damage. Having a recovery move helps too.
-Lucky Punch: Increases Chansey's critical hit ratio by two stages. See the Critical Hits page for more info.
These can be found on wild Chansey, and Chansey sent up from RBY. They do not affect Blissey.
-Stick: Just like the Lucky Punch, only for Farfetch'd.
Wild Farfetch'd are carrying them.
-Scope Lens: This item increases the critical hit ratio by one stage, but all Pokémon can use it.
This item is Mystery Gift-only. Good luck.
Defencive Items
-Brightpowder: Brightpowder increases your Evasion by 10%. A better way of putting it is that your opponent's attacks are 10% less likely to hit. (Cross Chop becomes 70% accurate, for example.)
Brightpowder is carried by Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew when they are traded up to GSC.
-Focus Band: With this item equipped, your Pokémon has a 1/10 chance of surviving any attack that would have fainted it with one HP. (Much like using Endure.) However, Poison and Burn damage, Leech Seed damage, using Explosion or Selfdestruct, or other 'indirect' attacks will still faint your Pokémon.
You can get the Focus Band in the Saffron Fighting Dojo.
-Quick Claw: Your Pokémon has a 25% chance of going first in battle, regardless of Speed or Paralysis. Some say it is actually 10%, but this has not been confirmed.
A girl in the National Park will give this to you.
-King's Rock: Your Pokémon has a 10% chance of Flinching its opponent.
There are a few things to know about this item. First, the Flinch chance is only possible on attacks that have NO other effects- Surf and Hydro Pump are eligible, for example, while Bubblebeam and Octazooka are not. Second, like all Flinch attacks, the user has to be faster than the opponent for Flinch to occur. You can get a King's Rock in the Slowpoke Well, and wild Slowpoke also carry them. King's Rock are used to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking and Poliwhirl into Politoed with a trade. But, the item is lost in the exchange.
